April Update: Proofs & Survey Closing Date
about 2 years ago – Sat, Apr 09, 2022 at 07:04:54 PM

We have our physical proofs for KÖ-OP!

We're extremely happy with the product we've recieved. The copy had a few minor errors we needed to iron out, but as of this post those have all been sorted.

Literally unplayable.

With those few tweaks made, we are ready to begin the process of finalizing our order for KÖ-OP and putting it into production. That means a few important steps in our process can finally happen!

First, and most importantly for you, we are closing the Backerkit Surveys on Monday April 25th. If you need to make any changes to your address or still need to fill out your survey, do so before then!

We plan to send out Print & Play files shortly after surveys close. We'll make a post here when those go live detailing how to download yours.

Once everyone's information is in, we’ll also be placing our final order for KÖ-OPs production. We expect to do this in the first week of May. From there, the games will make their way to Fulfillrite and then directly to you. We’re hoping this will mean games will start to arrive in June, but,  as we get estimated dates from Gamecrafter and Fulfillrite, we'll be updating our expected delivery dates.

March
about 2 years ago – Sat, Mar 12, 2022 at 10:50:14 PM

Our goal for March was to get a completed version of KÖ-OP off to the printer so we could see a physical proof. We’ve almost completed that goal, but life was a bit hectic on my end, and it seems I’m was really feeling the shortness of February this go around. I expect the files to be ready to go off to the printer in the next week or so. After that it will take a few more weeks for the prototype to be printed and sent out to us. I’m hoping I’ll be able to post some photos of it with April's update. If it all looks good we’ll then be set to put in the full order of KÖ-OP

-Pat

How Close is Almost?

So here’s where we stand with KÖ-OP right now:

  • All of the illustrations for KÖ-OP are done! Alisha knocked her work this month out of the park and the game is fully illustrated. Look at them all assembling in one place!
  • All of the Testing is done! No more gameplay changes need to be made to cards or rules, including all of the stretch goals cards added for THIS WÅY ÜP.
  • The final files for the rulebook are being adjusted currently. Due to some layout changes needed for player legibility, we had to add a few pages to the rulebook so it would all fit nicely. This is the last big piece we need to complete so the files can go to print.
  • We’re testing changes for the packaging design for of THIS WÅY ÜP. The foil booster pack prints color differently than we thought. We’ve adjusted the design to include fuller colors in the hope this helps.
Initially we wanted the booster to look like cardboard... however this packaging prints with more of a gold hue. So we're going to test the new design on the right.

Goals for March:

Once we’ve sent this off to print, we’re going to begin putting together the Print and Play files for the game while we wait for it to arrive.

As a reminder, we won’t be closing the Backerkit pledgemanager until we’re ready to start the printing for KÖ-OP. Optimistically, we estimate that to happen sometime in late April. However, that date could slide depending on our physical proof. There will be plenty of notice here before we lock the pledgemanger.

February Update
about 2 years ago – Fri, Feb 11, 2022 at 12:18:04 PM

A little behind schedule, but here’s our February update!

Our first big milestone post campaign was getting our backer surveys out the door. We successfully crossed that off our to-do list in January! At this point everyone should have received their survey link from Backerkit and can begin filling out their information.

On Backerkit, you’ll be able to adjust your address, add-ons, and give us all the information we may need to get you your copy of KÖ-OP. Shipping will not be charged yet and you can still make changes to anything on that page until we lock the surveys. That won’t be for a little while yet and we’ll make a post here before that happens, so that you all will have plenty of notice.

How Goes Assembly?

As for our work on KÖ-OP, this past month was used to begin putting the final polish on a lot of the mechanics and text for the game. This has included taking a closer look at the titling of our Manual Pages cards, testing our last few Hardship cards, and making an adjustment to the way cards are discarded at the end of your turn.

The Hardship cards in particular went through the most changes in January. Previously, we had a set of cards which made the game easier by reducing the number of Needs you and your partner were required to score in exchange for a lower Meatball count at the end of the game. In testing, these cards were never picked (who wants less Meatballs?), so we’ve adjusted the mechanical effects of these cards as you can see above.

Whats Next?

Looking ahead, our goal for February is to get a proof copies of both KÖ-OP and THIS WÅY UP ordered that includes all final artwork and the updated rules.

January Update
over 2 years ago – Fri, Jan 07, 2022 at 01:55:41 PM

Hey Everyone,

We hope you’ve all had a chance to take a bit of a break this Holiday season and spend some time with the furniture assembling partners in your life!

This is our first update since reaching our funding goal! We’re going to be putting out one of these posts during the first week of each month going forward. You’ll hear from us even when there isn’t much to update you all on just to check in and say hi as we work on the game.

PAX

December was a busy month for our team all around. We kicked it off with a trip down to Philly for PAX Unplugged where we got to play KÖ-OP live and in person with some of you for the first time! Thanks to everyone who swung by the booth to say hi, try the game, and generally talk about flat-pack furniture with us.

Getting Started

We used our time in between PAX and the Holidays to hit the ground running on getting KÖ-OP print ready. Here’s what the teams been up to:

  • Pat has been spending most of his time stress testing the newest THIS WÅY ÜP cards and has also started laying out the newest art from Alisha onto our cards. (The holidays we’re actually a great time for playtesting as I got to enlist my family for a few days as playtesters -Pat)
  • Alisha has begun working through our list of remaining art assets. Namely, the assemblers who will go on the black and white face sides of the hex cards. We wanted these cards to show our cartoon crew actually assembling flat-pack furniture and it’s been a good spot to start using some of your suggestions from our stretch goals.
  • Ari has begun another editorial sweep of our flavor text. This time he’s pinpointing some of the “read aloud” lines we felt landed a little flat with the PAX crowd at the start of the month.

And that’s it for December! Looking forward, our next big goal on the horizon is to get the Backerkit pledge manager out to you all this month. From the pledge manager, you’ll be able to enter or change your address and manage your pledge directly. We’ll post another update when this goes live so you don’t miss it!
